Job Description:  

KWESST is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr Configuration Management (CM) specialist to join our LC4ISR program in an Obsolescence Management role. This role focuses on the tracking and archiving of software data items as part of the LC4ISR Obsolescence Management process. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive CM plans and procedures 
  • Manage configuration identification, control, status accounting, and auditing of software elements 
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices for configuration management 
  • Provide support to team members on configuration management tools and processes 
  • Conduct audits and reviews of software within the LC4ISR System of Systems to verify current software status, most recent updates, end-of-support dates, and licensing 
  • Make recommendations to internal and external stakeholders on software life-cycling 
  • Collaborate with external partners and stakeholders to manage configuration data and information sharing 
  • Track the current status of software items in development and in use 
  • Track software items being decommissioned or replaced 
  • Archive software items being discontinued from further development 
  • Linking in with the Build Books team to archive the latest software builds 
  • Manage ITAR/CGP requirements applicable to specific software items 
  • Maintain data filing processes & registries 
  • Maintain any data exchanges (i.e. secure FTP) required to move the software from system to system 
  • Manage the software Configuration Item (CI) environment 
  • Conduct research to find better CM/DM tools 

Qualifications: 

  • Must possess an active SECRET security clearance 
  • Must be eligible to be vetted as part of the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) 
  • Minimum of 10 years of industry experience to qualify as a Senior CM specialist 
  • Proficiency in CM tools such as Confluence,  IBM Rational ClearCase, Jira, or similar 
  • Experience with software life-cycle management is an asset 
  • Experience with software obsolescence is important  
  • Experience in Data Management (DM) and Configuration Management (CM) best practices 
  • Certificate in Information Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience 
  • Experience with MS Office, especially MS Excel and Sharepoint  
  • Experience with data gathering using Google and AI tools 
  • Familiarity with DOORS is an asset 
  • Good understanding of software development methodologies and best practices. 
  • Understanding of Controlled Goods Program and ITAR processes is desired 
  • Knowledge of SAFe Agile principles 
  • Understanding of the DND organization is an asset  
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail are a must 
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills are a must 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
