KWESST Phantom™ Tactical Multi-Function Electro-Magnetic Spectrum Operations (EMSO) System

The KWESST Phantom™ EMSO System was invented out of necessity as the military electromagnetic (EM) spectrum has become its own battlespace domain. Phantom™ is a multi-function compact, lightweight, selectively expendable EMSO system with three main functions:

  • A small unit “degraded communications” trainer designed to provide a complex, noisy EM environment for ground unit training. It can also function as a basic tactical communications jammer.
  • A real time spectrum analyzer that interfaces with operator End User Devices (EUD) to display show real time representation of current EM activity in the local tactical environment.
  • A full power emitter/transmitter that mimics the EM footprint of friendly tactical units and entities thereby presenting an adversary with a misleading, complex, and confusing picture of friendly force locations, movement, and intent. Essentially Phantom™ is an EM Decoy.
